Ecuadorian soprano based in Colorado, María José Fabara is a versatile artist who has performed on stages throughout Latin America and the U.S. Since relocating to Colorado in 2022, she has become an active presence in the region’s musical landscape, appearing with companies such as Opera Colorado, Opera Fort Collins, Boulder Opera, and Central City Opera’s education and outreach programs. Her repertoire spans opera, chamber music, and symphonic works, with recent roles including Norina in Don Pasquale, Despina in Così fan tutte, Mimì in La Bohème, and Frasquita in Carmen.

Through her performances, María José brings forward Latin American identity as a natural part of her artistic voice. She is committed to work that reflects the complexity of her cultural background and resonates with broader communities. Whether on the operatic stage or in community-based programs, she approaches each project as an opportunity to connect with others through music that is honest, grounded, and reflective of lived experience.
